FAQ

E-bikes are just cheating right? I still want to get exercise.

E-bikes aren’t cheating! An overwhelming majority of the e-bikes we sell are pedal-assist only, meaning there is no “easy button.” The motor simply amplifies the effort that you are putting in. This means that if you are not pedaling, it isn’t going to do anything either! The pedal-assist allows you to pedal as if you were on a flat surface while you are actually on an incline with a headwind! Most e-bike riders find that they ride for longer distances and ride more frequently meaning they actually get MORE exercise than they otherwise would have!

Why are e-bikes so expensive? I found one online for under $1,000!

The e-bikes we carry are high quality bikes from folks who have been making bikes and making them well for years! This means that you get high quality bicycle parts (shifters, brakes, etc) as well as a high quality, thoroughly safety tested battery and motor! This means a smoother, more enjoyable ride experience as well as peace of mind that your bike will reliably be ready for you! Trek e-bikes also have an industry leading 2-year warranty providing EVEN MORE peace of mind.

Do you service e-bikes as well?

YES! Our highly skilled technicians are trained and ready to service your e-bike. If it is an e-bike that we sell, we are able to service the regular bike components as well as update the software, troubleshoot any issues you may have with your battery or motor, and handle any warranty issues that may arise. For e-bikes that we do not sell and do not have a Bosch, Fazua, Hyena, or TQ system, we are only able to service the regular bike components. Depending on the e-bike we may ask that you take the battery with you while we service the bike for safety reasons.

How do I store my e-bike for the winter?

If your bike has a removable battery, you can store your bike in the garage and just bring your battery inside. Bosch recommends running your battery down to approximately 50% capacity before storing but we recommend double checking your bicycle’s owner’s manual if you have a non-Bosch system. If your bike does not have a removable battery, it is recommended that you store the entire bike inside a temperature-controlled environment for the winter season. If you are a year-round rider, we recommend storing your battery/bike in a temperature-controlled environment while it is not in use. DO NOT keep your battery on the charger or on a trickle charger all winter as it will reduce your battery capacity in the long run.

I got an e-bike online but I keep having issues with it, can I trade it in for one of yours?

Unfortunately not. We pride ourselves on having the best selection for our customers for both new and used bikes and we want to ensure that we are able to service anything we sell. We recommend trying to sell it on Facebook Marketplace or contacting the company that you initially purchased from to remedy issues you are having.

Can I test ride an e-bike before I buy it?

ABSOLUTELY! We highly recommend it! There are so many differences between e-bikes from their fit, their ride feel, their torque, and their battery capacity – test riding is the best way to ensure that you are on the right bike! If you are 18 or older, you are welcome to come test ride an e-bike any day that we are open!
